Sore Gums Around Tooth Extraction

"The bloody doll," a great success on television of the 70s!

The genius watchmaker Mr Gaillard (Julien Verdier)
While the new generation of digital media video poking its nose through the Blu- Ray and the old VHS has finally broken his pipe, one still wonders why one of the most legendary French audiovisual heritage soap operas are still not on DVD. The bloody doll , directed by Robert Scipio and Marcel Cravenne in 1976 and aired several times on public service before joining the archives of the site of the INA (which also offers downloads for a small fee), has been seared generations of spectators. I hoped to find its republication in the excellent catalog company Koba Films / Memory TV on DVD which publishes many successful television for years 60 and 70 (such Age happy, loved Janice , How not to marry a billionaire , The girl Avignon, The Beaux Messieurs de Bois-gold or Island's thirty coffins ). Unfortunately this is not always the case. So what do they expect to edit it? That is all dead?

The Marquise of Coulteray (Edith Scob)
This beautiful creation of the 70 is the inventive adaptation of the novels The doll and bloody The machine murder, both published in 1923 by Gaston Leroux . This fantastic writer of the early 20th century, first court reporter for the daily morning and novelist and writer famous for his famous works involving police portrays the convict Cheri-bibi or Detective Rouletabille ( The Mystery of the Yellow Room , The perfume of the lady in black ) certainly reached the peak of his art with this cruel history with Gothic accents. ; The TV series made him proud to honor, maintaining a dark thriller in the heart of a story paradoxically horror and romantic. The 6 episodes of 52 minutes narrate the tragic story of hideous bookbinder and poet of the Ile Saint Louis Benedict Masson unjustly sentenced to death and executed, and whose brain was retrieved by the surgeon Jacques Quentin and watch the brilliant Mr Gaillard to be grafted on their joint creation, the controller Gabriel with a stunning beauty . Benedict Masson , played masterfully by the strange actor Jean-Paul Zehnacker , then relived through the body of the controller and could not bring himself to mention the daughter of a watchmaker Christine (played by actress Yolande Folliot ) he was secretly in love despite her was promised to the surgeon's apprentice sorcerer. He did not give up either to avenge the real culprits of the murder with which he was accused and which had led to the guillotine.

The appearance of Marquis and Marchioness of Coulteray and their manners more than bizarre, face glacial Herculean strength curious and approach the PLC Gabriel, the scene where Benedict Masson on his doorstep shows his bloody hands while having a rictus of terror (see the video clip at end of column) : so many dizzying moments that remained etched in my mind as a young teenager when I discovered them when they first broadcast on the second chain of ORTF (the first episode beginning on the evening of September 17, 1976 on Antenne 2 ). Never violent scenes here, but just a strange atmosphere maintaining an enjoyable unease in the viewer.

Gaston Leroux
It may think that the fierce militant abolitionist Gaston Leroux doubtless found a way to annoy the supporters of capital punishment with this great allegorical story of a man killed by the company but still reliving finally love, then forget . This series is still one important example of what television quality 60 and 70 years was able to do so despite limited financial resources. Far from the caricature of what became the Cold Current TV, stuffed with money, poor, and vacuum.

The summary at the beginning of the fourth episode, very representative of the general atmosphere
